A guy from Indiana dies and is sent to Hell. He had been a horrible man his entire life.

The devil puts him to work breaking up rocks with a sledge hammer. To make it worse, he cranks up the temperature and the humidity. After a couple of days, the devil checks in on his victim to see if he is suffering adequately. The devil is aghast as the Hoosier is happily swinging his hammer and whistling a happy tune. The devil walks up to him and says, "I don't understand this. I've turned the heat way up, it's humid, you're crushing rocks; why are you so happy?"

The man, with a big smile, looks at the devil and replies, "This is great! It reminds me of August in Indiana . Hot, humid, a good place to work. It reminds me of home. This is fantastic!" The devil, extremely perplexed, walks away to ponder the man's remark. Then he decides to drop the temperature, send down a driving rain and torrential wind.

Soon, Hell is a wet, muddy mess.

Walking in mud up to his knees with dust blowing into his eyes, the man is happily slogging through the mud pushing a wheelbarrow full of crushed rocks. Again, the devil asks how he can be happy in such conditions. The man replies, "This is great! Just like April in Indiana . It reminds me of working out in the yard with spring planting!"

The devil is now completely baffled but more determined to make him suffer. He makes the temperature plummet. Suddenly Hell is blanketed in snow and ice. Confident that this will surely make him unhappy, the devil checks in on him. He is again aghast at what he sees. The man is dancing, singing, and twirling his sledgehammer as he cavorts in glee.

"How can you be so happy? Don't you know its 40 below zero!?" screams the devil.

Spreading across LiveJournal like WarPox spread across Earth in my Concordat setting, I've been tagged with the Ten Weird Things Meme by [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave.

Each player of this game starts off with ten weird things or habits or little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged must write in a blog of their own ten weird things or habits or little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you must choose six people to be tagged and list their names. No tagbacks!

1. My sister and I were both born on the 4th of July, five years apart. At the time of our births, our father was still a British citizen.

2. I have a strange fear of dropping things down elevator shafts. I've never actually done it, to the best of my recollection, but I will go to great lengths to make sure that I never do drop something there.

3. When I drink, I prefer straight-up Jack Daniels and a beer. Never been one for mixed drinks.

4. My toes are extremely long and dexterous. I have used them to hold pieces of a rifle while cleaning it in the field.

5. The first time I ever drove a car was when I was 15. My best friend was so drunk he couldn't stand, and I had to drive his father's treasured 20-year old Lincoln home.

6. I once insulted Ted Nugent to his face.

7. A few weeks after I was born, my family was adopted by a stray cat (named "Kitty" by my then four-year old big brother.) Kitty thrived and was part of our lives for my entire childhood. She passed away only after I left home for Basic Training.

8. I love most British comedy, but Benny Hill has always left me cold.

9. I was at the launch of STS 51-L

10. I shoot left-handed unless the weapon is a scoped rifle, the I automatically adjust and shoot rightie.

Tagging? I don't do that. Consider all yourselves to be tagged. Or not.

A T-34 tank, captured by the Germans and used in combat, is recovered after five decades underwater.

Doing a little research, I just found out that Ken Caminiti and I were at Leigh High at the same time. He was a senior my freshman year.

That's just weird. I could handle being from a school that produced a Doobie Brother and a Manson Family member, but both of those happened years before I attended!

Hell, he probably beat me up once or twice.
