The Pod of Damocles is hanging over my head...

Had a wonderful moment at work today..

But first an editorial comment. Eight freaking jobs! Yeesh! It's amazing I was out of there as quickly as I was! Only ten hours.

Anyway, I was dropping a loaded pod for a family moving into a new place. Mom, Dad, and the three kids were all gathered to watch the Podzilla show. Got the pod hooked up and lifted, drove the truck out, and came to to lower it. That's when the family cat noticed this lovely shade structure I'd set up for her.

So she ambles over and sits under the pod. Which weighs maybe four or five tons. And is being held up by a hydraulic lift and four chains. And begins taking a bath.

Well the kids freak, of course. They call Mungo to come out, one kids asks if he can go under the pod to get her (NO!) and in general the cat basks in the attention. I realize it is time to reveal my amazing powers. I lean down and address the cat.

"Mungo, I was raised by cats. Been around cats my entire life. Love cats. But I'm very busy today, and running behind schedule, so if you don't move your furry butt I'm going to drop this pod on your pointy little head and give your family the name of a friend at the local animal shelter. Kitty pate, get my drift?"

Mungo gives me an evil look, stretches, and walks out from under the pod.

The dad could not stop laughing.

Now that the two drama queens of MLB are out of the running, we can enjoy the LCS games.

Personally, I'm hoping for a Cardinals - White Sox series.

Ah, a day off.

After today's craziness, I was happy to take tomorrow off. Although it means my schedule recently has looked kind of odd (worked Thursday, off Friday, worked Saturday, off Sunday, worked Monday, off Tuesday...)

Tomorrow my mom and I are going to see Serenity. No plans beyond that.

and now to bed, because I'm exhausted.
