Learning the PODS system continues apace. I getting much smoother at lifting containers with Podzilla, but still have some difficulty driving it. Also causing me headaches is backing up the truck. More than half the time, I'm backing under Podzilla (half the time with a pod on the lift) and I have to thread my way between the lift legs and line up for a straight, centered drop of the pod. Friday, I'm going to get some time with a spare truck to just practice that, which is good.

I've been working very long hours, which hasn't left much time for anything else, alas. That, and fighting a cough that will not die (although like an old soldier, it seems to be fading away,) has meant that most nights I get home, eat something, shower and just die. The cough has made sleep difficult, to say the least, so I'm really hoping to get a good night's rest this evening. The spider bite, after maxing out as a swelling the size of a golf ball, has all but disappeared. All that's left is a scab and a small swelling. No amputations of super-powers this time around, I'm afraid.

Yesterday, I met our CEO and founder. He tours the country meeting everyone at all the company units (there are ten of them) and telling us what's happening at corporate, and listening to our comments and complaints. This is tremendously cool. In my six years at Stupid Shuttle, I couldn't name our CEO, much had ever met the man. Mr. Warhurst, on the other hand, introduced himself to me. The news from corporate is good is good. The company is doing well, we're growing at the pace everyone hoped for, and we're getting several new trucks over the next few months. The best part was we all got off the road early (Chris and I had four jobs, and were done by 1400) and there was copious amounts of free food, deli trays and the like. I earned a reputation I've never had before when one of my coworkers noticed I was on my fourth sandwich (roast beef, turkey, pastrami and good cheddar on a wheat roll w/ brown mustard) and asked if I had eaten in the previous week.

Assuming I make it to the weekend without dying in a bizarre Pod-related accident ("the good news, Mrs. Berry, is he's already in a burial container...") we're finally picking up my cell phone and I need to get some good leather work gloves. That, and a router for the DSL line (and whatever cable is needed to transfer all my stuff from the old machine to the new one to make it fully functional.) [livejournal.com profile] kshandra has a Burning Man thingie on Saturday, so that will probably be my day to crash. I may treat myself to a pizza orgy. I hope to get home in time and shape for a Friday Date, even if it's just a trip down the street for dinner at Chili's.

All in all, things are going well
