The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King> gets 11 nominations; including Best Picture and Best Director for Peter Jackson. But nothing for Sir Ian! Bother.

Best Actor? Johnny Depp, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl; Ben Kingsley, House of Sand and Fog; Jude Law, Cold Mountain; Bill Murray, Lost in Translation; Sean Penn, Mystic River.

Friends, I want you to contemplate something. Bill Murray might be acknowledged as the best actor in film,. Bill-fucking-Murray! I'm rooting for Johnny Depp, of course.

The nominess. My choices are in bold )

I can't wait until Oscar night!

I'm watching the American Idol audition shows.. some of these people come close, but others?

OK, I can't sing. I know this. I freely admit this. I would no more try to inflict my voice on an audience than I would smear myself with blood and walk into a pit-bull pen. Folks, I am better than some of the losers being shown. Far better. What possessed them to try this is beyond me.

But it gets better... about half of them argue with the judges! These are industry professionals who make very good livings do nothing but looking for talent! Yet a tone-deaf 18 year old from Tarzana knows better?

(An honest-to-God little person just belted out an amazing song.. she's going to Hollywood!)

Speaking of delusional people, Senator Joe Lieberman came in 4th in New Hampshire.. but not according to him. In his view trailing two candidates by over 7,000 votes with 95% of the vote counted was calling the race a dead heat for 3rd.

There's a quiz that computes wether you are Yankee or Dixie based on language. I came up with this result:

37% (Yankee). You have a good Yankee score.

What I found very interesting was that it gives regional results for each question. Most of my responses were labeled as being common in Michigan and the western Great Lakes. My mom is from Wisconsin. So even though I grew up in California, my speech patterns are influenced by the Midwest (and southern England, of course.)
