While the computer was in time-out.
Nov. 7th, 2003 12:29 pmActually a good few days.
Still no joy on the job front. Filling out applications is becoming very depressing.
Biking is going well. Wednesday I rode all the way to Starport.. just shy of 10 miles! And I felt pretty good at the end. Time was roughly one hour, with stops for lights and water. I've begun keeping my pedaling pace by singing Jodie Calls Out loud. :) Gotten me some odd looks.. I've figured out that on weird bikes most of the fine speed control is on the front derailleur. For flat ground I've found that 3rd on the rear and mid-to-upper range on the front gives me good speed with light effort. 4th gear is still a bitch. Refuses to catch.
Went to see Survivor and CSI at Mom's place, after a wonderful pizza dinner (thank you Kiri!) Nice to see that I was dead right in guessing who would be voted back in. The merge took me by surprise, but..
Best Immunity Talisman Ever. For those of you who do not watch, after the two tribes merge into one, immunity is given to only one person, preventing them from being voted out. In past years, the "Immunity Talisman" has been a necklace. This year, in keeping with the pirate theme, it is a cutlass and sword belt, with a pistol attached. Rupert was born to wear this!
Maximum Leader Savage takes the walk of shame. Bye, loser!
CSI was excellent, with a lot of twists.
Today? Matrix Revolutions!

Clerking for the Masters of the Universe
Nov. 7th, 2003 12:39 pmJust got this:
Dear Douglas Berry:
Your application for Library Clerk part-time was received and based on the
information you provided, you meet the qualifications for this position. Thank
you for your interest in employment with the San Jose Public Library System.
The next step in the process is to further review the applications and answers
to the supplemental questions to find those that best match the needs of the
positions currently available to invite them in for an interview. We received
hundreds more applications than we had expected so this review will probably
take a few days. We will get back to you either way.
Again, thank you for your interest and for your time.
Sincerely,
Library Personnel Officer
San Jose Public Library System
Holy farking three-humped neotoads! I expected that application to be round-filed with much laughter and merriment!
This would be very, very good. Aside from being a job, I would be able to go to the SJPD process having already cleared the basic clearances for being a city employee. And any nose under the tent flap is a good thing.

Everything that has a beginning...
Nov. 7th, 2003 08:21 pm..has an end.
Just got back from seeing the Matrix.
( My review, with MASSIVE SPOILERS!! GO BACK! )
So much for that. We got previous for Shrek II (looks great), Troy (must see!), Return of the King (well, duh)., Timeline (either going to be very good, or very, very bad), and Torque (So damn stupid it is beyond belief.)
The three of us,
kshandra,
dafydd and I, went to Coco's, where I had the best French Dip ever made. Came to find that CostPlus had called, and want to talk to me about my application!
No, I must flee, as Kiri needs to puter around.
