Weekend Update
Jul. 28th, 2003 07:55 amWith
dafydd's imminent relocation to Sacramento, I let
kshandra know that I wouldn't mind her spending most of her weekend time with him. This has left me to my own devices for the last few weeks.
My plans for this weekend were simple, watch the Giants beats up on the Padres, and get some work in on the worlds in Alpha Crucis sector. What I ended up doing was nowhere nearly as pleasant. I wasn't feeling well to begin with, which was totally my fault since I had gone way off my medication schedule. Stupid, I know.
I spent most of Saturday on the couch watching the Giants lose, noodling around the net, and trying to focus my brain enough to do some design work. The high temps did not help. Eventually, needing food, I made some spaghetti. Unfortunately, the spaghetti sauce was just a little old, and I was up all night with what the medicos call "intestinal distress." Seriously, I finally got to sleep at 0430 which is way out of character for me.
In between sessions in the Hall of Porcelain, I played Nethack. Everybody say hi to Havok the Orc Barbarian, who became a Demigod yesterday. I was helped in my quest by the strangest bones file I have ever seen. At least 18 different characters died on this level. I was finding crap all over the place. Then, in one room at the bottom left corner of the screen, I found the bloody mother lode.
The room had "Elebreth" inscribed in almost every other square (in the game this prevents most monster from attacking you) There was an altar with the remains of three stone golems, statues of other creatures and piles of rocks which made me think that someone had a cockatrice corpse as a weapon, and an ice box. Normally an ice box contains a few corpses that you can eat for intrinsic abilities like fire resistance or the like. Not this one.. it had 37 screens of stuff. Somebody had stuffed everything from all those bones piles into this ice box! Severely weird.
Watched the Giants take the final game from the Padres, making this a 10-1 home stand, read The Hacker Crackdown, and generally felt miserable for most of Sunday. Feeling a little better today, but not by much.
