The All-Important Baseball Report #3
Apr. 24th, 2003 10:44 amThe 20 Game edition.
After the first 20 games, the G-men are 16-4, with a 4.5 game lead of the Colorado Rockies. So far, the season has been wonderful, with players stepping up and playing well.
Last night:
San Francisco Giants: 4
Pittsburgh Pirates: 3
(in 13 innings.)
A real marathon, with the Giants tying the game on a Jose Cruz, Jr. three-run homer in the 8th, and finally winning when J.T. Snow came home on a Pokey Reese error. He never makes an error. He's probably the best fielding second baseman in the game, but this time the ball pooped out of his glove and the ball shot into right field.
Injuries: Bonds is sitting out with a stiff neck (he can't turn his head, according to reports) and J.T. Snow was hit by a pitch that nearly broke his arm. X-Rays are negative, but he'll probably sit out tonight.
J.T. is having a banner April, hitting .373 with 21 RBIs. Bonds is off to a slow start, batting .286 with only 5 home runs. Our best pitcher is by far Jason Schmidt, 2-0, with a 2.36 ERA.
Right now, we're on pace to win 130 games.
GO GIANTS!
