World Series Game 5
Oct. 25th, 2002 09:26 amOne more game!
San Francisco Giants: 16
Anaheim Angels: 4
Jeff Kent finally woke his bat up, and the Giants pitching continued to tame the red-hot Angels hitters. Giants now lead the series 3-2. Game 6 is Saturday night in Anaheim. A win there gives the Giants their first championship since 1954.
The play of the game came when JT Snow and David Bell were heading home. Darren Baker, Dusty's adorable 3 1/2 year old son, was working the game as a bat boy. Usually somebody is holding him back so he only goes out after the play is over. This time he got lose and was a kid on a mission. He reached home plate just as JT Snow crossed it. JT, knowing that Bell was coming in right behind him, grabbed Darren by his jacket and swung him out of harm's way. The moment Darren was put down, he immediately grabbed his batting helmet, and then, of course, grabbed the bat and headed back to the dugout. At one point in the game, after a Giant popped up the ball, the cameras caught Darren tossing his helmet in disgust. That kid is too much.
