Sometimes, it doesn't pay to get out of bed.
I have just found out that the person who has final say on the book I'm writing has decided that he wants me to use some never-published information on the worlds for the basis of the book.
This of course negates a shit load of work that I, and others, have already done.
On the other hand, it will speed things up. I already have names and stats for all the worlds, and just have to translate from original Traveller to GURPS Traveller.
On the gripping hand, these worlds were designed in a totally random way, with no regard for scientific accuracy or even any logical pattern. You get worlds the size of our moon with Earth-like atmospheres, and barren desert worlds with populations in the billions a parsec from empty garden planets. Or worlds with a technological level equal to that of the early industrial age thriving in an atmosphere composed mainly of nitrogen and methane.
On the.. Hey! I've run out of hands! ..other tentacle, I have been given carte blanche to make changes at my own discretion. This allows me to clean up the worst offenders; changing stellar types and playing with the planets and their populations to suit my will.
At least we cleared this up early in the process. It could have come much later.
