Just back from touring the Winchester Mystery House with
isomeme and his crew. First time I've been back since I worked there for about six months in 1990. The house was still weird and wonderful, and while the tour has changed a great deal, I recognized enough of the patter to be comfortable. Did not agree with how our guide handled the Seance Room, though. You can have a lot of fun in that room, and he droned through it. We skipped the garden tour due to poor weather and
madelineusher not feeling overly well. To be honest, an hour climbing around that building did a job on my back, and I was happy to come home.
Prior to the House, we met for lunch at Chili's. Amazingly, after the feast last night, I was still able to demolish a steak. And skillet queso. And a tall Budweiser.
Tomorrow, weather willing, we're all going to Oak Meadow/Vasona Lake Park (two parks, one belonging to the Town of Los Gatos and one to Santa Clara County, that pretty much exist as one place.) We're all going to ride the Billy Jones Wildcat Railroad. Because that's what you do at the park!
FIRST NAME: Douglas. Mostly it's my family that calls me by my full name. To everyone else I'm Doug.
AGE: 43
LOCATION: San Jose, Ca
OCCUPATION: Truck Driver for a construction material supply company. I drive an International 4300 DT flatbed with a maximum gross vehicle weight of 26,000lbs/11 793.4kg. The truck is roughly 34' long from nose to tail. My route covers a wide area, from San Jose up to Vacaville and Lodi in the north, and Modesto in the Southeast.
PARTNER: The lovely and talented
kshandra, my lovely wife of nearly 19 years.
KIDS: I might have a son, who would now be in his early twenties. Long story. Other than that, no.
BROTHERS/SISTERS: Elder brother Craig (
isomeme) is 47. He's a profession geek for Google. Younger sister Ann is 38, and exactly five years younger than me, as we were both born on July 4th.
PETS: None. Unless stuffed animals count, then we have a cast of dozens.
LIST THE 3-5 BIGGEST THINGS GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE: Ongoing medical drama, trying to commit to writing more, dealing with work.
PARENTS: Peter and Susan.
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR CLOSEST FRIENDS? I really don't have too many friends, and almost none I'd call close. I'm a bit of a loner.
