Yeah, this thing is taking over the world.

Was just talking to [livejournal.com profile] kshandra about how useless a sniper with ADHD would be, and I was inspired.

But it has teeth!

Is that on PunditKitchen yet?

Sort of the point.

You know, I was reading about the way they teach special forces soldiers to think and it hit me that they're teaching people to be ADD.

I think it would be easier to recruit ADD soldiers, send them to school, and then take away their Focusin. It would save several steps.

A friend of mine who was an ADD soldier was somewhat less than successful at that particular career choice.

Admittedly, I have a sample size of but one.

ROTFL

The round goes completely through the squirrel, and it explodes anyway from the hydrostatic shock. Nothin' but fur and bits.

What, behind the rabbit?

"Dude. Trust me, I'm sick of MREs, too. But let's get our priorities straight, shall we? First we whack the tangos, then we hunt for dinner.

"Oh, and one other thing. Think about what a 7.62mm NATO round does to a person. What do you think is going to happen to a squirrel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Gray_Squirrel), that masses maybe a kilo, when it's hit by a round that generates 3,352 joules (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62x51mm_NATO)? Inedible squirrel splat is what I'm guessing we'll get."

I've actually hit a squirrel with a .50 round. "Red mist" describes the results.

Cattle hit by a 105 round - two pieces about 15 meters apart, connected by intestines...

One of my favorite Bill Maudlin cartoons. A machinegun team with smoke rising from the barrel of their .30 cal. "Yeah, I coulda sworn a couple of Krauts was hiding there. Call th' cooks."

We had to wait for the Cattleman's Association rep to come out and ID the carcass (at the time, Ft. Hood leased out the maneuver area, including the ranges & beaten zones, to a coop of cattleman) and by the time they arrived on-scene, something like 20 hours had passed - so no steaks for us.

The family of deer I lit up with my Bradley's coax a few months before (they were right in line with the troop target I was expecting, and hey, they were just bright spots on the thermals) were too badly chopped up to salvage I was told by a friend on the range detail.

Oh man - they'd love this over at [livejournal.com profile] operation_macro! *giggle*
