Oh, the pain...

About the time Kiri came to bed last night (around 0100) I suffered one on the worst Charlie Horses I've had in years. It felt like a rock had been placed in my calf, that's how tight the muscles were. Took about five minutes before I could even begin to stretch the affected area.

Now of course the entire leg is tender and twinging like it wants to cramp again. Hot shower once I get home to help relax it, and plenty of hydration today.

Make sure you get adequate potassium. V-8 is good, so is orange juice, potatoes, raisins and other stuff I'm not going to look up now.

You're more likely to be low on potassium than sodium.

Bananas are cheap, easy sources of potassium, and they travel well. They also get sweeter and softer as they age, so Doug might want to experiment with one on the dash, taking bites during the day to see how the heat accelerates the process to the point that is easiest on his dental situation.
