Weekend Update
Hello, I'm Doug Berry. And you're not.
It's depressing to realize that a large portion of my friends list is too young to remember Chevy Chase on SNL.

kshandra and I went up to the City Tuesday to spend time with friends. See her post for the foodie details. Great time was had, if only we had more time and could have gone to a place that didn't screw with my poor hearing quite so badly. One thing Kiri didn't mention was the World's Foamiest Beer, a Duvel. Pretty good, even if I had to show extra care in pouring the thing.
Alas, we didn't get back until almost midnight, and I had trouble getting to sleep. Something I ate was causing me a bit of distress (or a virus I had been battling for a week flared up) and early Wednesday I called in sick. My wonderful, understanding boss immediately told everyone that I had been eating spinach.
Thursday I had to unscrew a mistake I had made. I accidentally delivered some material to the wrong job site. Right company, wrong boxes. Luckily they materials had been set aside so it was easy to fix. I also learned that one of the thorns in my side had been removed. Our supplier that sits in the wilds of Contra Costa County? I'm not going there anymore. Somebody finally did the math. It takes me a minimum of one half hour to drive there. My average sit time while they find my orders was around forty minutes. And to get to anywhere else was anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. Not worth the money. Now they are delivering to us, or UPSing small orders.
Yesterday was the Bill Kirchen concert withthe_ogre. After some stress getting up there (because of our car's decrepit state, we rented a PT Cruiser. Getting that and dealing with Friday night traffic made it an interesting race against the clock.) we arrive and the Freight & Salvage Coffee House. Ogre had grabbed front row sets. Neat little venue, looks like it held about 150 or so and the house was packed. A little after 2000 Bill and his band took the stage.
The best way to describe this band is to describe the Telecaster he plays. If you closely you can see a slight remnant of the original paint job. Other than that, it is p[ure wood worn smooth by years of travel. He's been playing the same guitar since about 1968. The sound is rockabilly, rock, country, and whatever he feels like. At one point he wished an audience member a happy birthday, and we got "Happy Birthday" as both a folk song and as death metal. Just watching his fingers was entertaining. Add in a great band and a sense of humor that wouldn't quit, and we had a three hour show that was amazing.
During the break, I bought a copy of King of Dieselbilly. Bill was signing CDs, and I got to tell him about how I first heard his Hot Rod Lincoln. It was on this night and I heard the whole thing on KPIG while driving barefoot in the pouring rain. He loved the story, and after the show as we were leaving, told me to keep the shiny side up. I also got to show him the World's Worst Grateful Dead tattoo.
Today, I'm going to try to get a little writing done, play some Nethack, and eat. Oh, yes, I will eat. Next weekend I'm a guest at Silicon and Kiri is working Baycon's table. Anybody going to be there?
finally, I got Ars Magica 5th Edition. This is going to be my next FTF game.
The Giants have been eliminated. I'll be in my pod until Spring Training.

I'm glad to hear you liked the look of Freight & Salvage. Cheryl and I have tickets for Al Stewart's (http://www.alstewart.com/) December 15 show there. Guess we should plan to be there when the doors open in order to get good seats.

We were pretty stoned back then.It's kinda like, if you remember the 60s kinda thing.Anypath, Little Harold and I will be at Silicon. Along with the whole Davis Clan. Big Harold will come if his colon lets him. I am also supposed to be getting tables for CostumeCon26 and MythSoc (no one has gotten back to me on it). We have a room for 3 nights (so we don't have to check out on Sunday am).
And I Hope the Sharks give us something to cheer about at the end of the season. But I'm a fan even if they don't.
And Eating is Good for you. Do it well and often.
