Handle with care.

For no apparent reason, I have been in a crappy, brittle mood all day. Just free-floating aggression, not at all helped by the Giants and 49ers stinking up their respective fields.

I almost feel sorry for the door-to-door theists just just walked into my kill zone. I hit them with everything. Biblical contradictions, their arguments from authority, a challenge to listen to my religion's point of view (Hail Eris!)

Needless to say, they were not happy campers when I finally unclamped my metaphorical jaws from around their throats and let them run away.

Do not mess with the Angry Penguin!

So, were they willing to listen to your religious information? Or was it supposed to be a one-way street?

You jest, of course. I was supposed to listen in awe, since as a 40 year old man in the USA I had never been exposed to the concept of Christianity before, and immediately repent and give my brain over to Jesus.

Hearing about the Lady of Discord was not on their agenda

(grin) So they directly refused to listen to your nonsense, while their nonsense was supposed to be worth your time? Yeah, that sounds like typical door-to-door Jeebus salesman arrogance.

What flavor of stooge were they, anyway? Mormon? Jehovah's Witless?

Assembly of God. There's a church south of us that is evidently off the map as far as the looney factor.

I'd say then that you need to update their map, including the notation that your apartment falls into the Uncharted Territories, captioned with the warning: "Here Be Monsters."

Never argue Religion with a RC wanna be priest (he studied for two years) and a Born Again Jew (I studied them all and decided that Yes, I am Jewish). We know our bible plus a number of other religions. The Thumpers don't like us either. :)
Though I normally just quickly send them away with a "No, Not Interested", before they take up too much of my time.

Butch (my GF) took to growling at them a ways back. Near as I can tell, they
dont come around much anymore.

All praise Eris!

And Loki, too. They make an awesome couple.

They struck one Saturday morning when [livejournal.com profile] childe_dirk was still groggy. He intended to be polite and tell them that he wasn't interested. Instead, he was accidentally honest and told them "I'm sorry, I'm just not listening."

Good on you.

But...

*I* am a Theist (or perhaps Deist, there is a difference buty I forget what it is). Basically, it's one step from agnostic. I'm fairly sure there's a High Power. Beyond thar, I won't commit to details.

So those folks weren't remotely Theists, as proselytizing is just a *wee* bit difficult for agnostics, theists & deists.

Well, unless you are the nutcase *militant* variety. :-)

Sorry. I tend to use the alt.atheism take on the term "theist" - i.e. anyone who believes in a deity/deities. Keeps us from having to liste very single religions in every post.

Your position sounds like Deism to me.

Ah. Hadn't come across that usage before.

Wasn't offended anyway, just a bit surprised.
