kshandra sailed off on the annual trip to That Thing In The Desert last night. She's in Oakland now, and will be heading up with her ride today.

Of course the actual packing was traumatic. I swear, next year I'm going to sit on her until she types up a packing checklist, and we will have everything laid out and checked off 12 hours prior to her departure. She almost forgot to take her bears!

*sigh* I miss her already.

Idea: Type up packing list when she gets back -- when what she needed, had, missed, is still fresh in her mind. Save list on computer. Prior to next year, print out list, make modifications as necessary. Pack.

Live from the Middle of Nowhere! (Okay, Reno.)

In my defense, I did better than I did last year - and the person who picked me up is even worse than I am. I wound up being the one who unloaded and reloaded the truck yesterday to get all of her stuff in it.... (BTW, the first thing I did when I repacked yesterday was open up the mattress and put it on the bottom; if we'd done that in the first place, we could have put the card table in on top of it. I should take a picture before we unload. ;-)

Another thought that I've sometimes had on my camping trips: revise the list while I'm there. I have not done it yet though -- so I still use the old one when it comes to packing & then try to remember any changes (eg: backpacking vs. car camping vs. SCA camping).

Hi, sorry to just butt into your journal life, but Doc asked me to let as many people as possible know that internet provider problems have forced him off the air tonight.
