CG, 0 H, 0 BB

Randy Johnson has thrown a Perfect Game. At 40. Wow. This comes after the Big Unit struggled with injuries and a slow start.

And elsewhere...

San Francisco Giants: 1
Chicago Cubs: 0

Jason Schmidt came close.. giving up 1 walk and 1 hit in his CG win. On a night when the winds a Wrigley kept everything in the park, the low score seemed inevitable.

Wouldn't that have been something if Schmidt had also pitched a perfect game? Two in one day?

Fucking nuttier than shit after eating Almond Roca.

But I'm not gonna split hairs. We needed that win. :)

Damn right we did. We also needed that complete game to let the bullpen rest.

It's almost happened before: 29th of June, 1990. Valenzuela threw a no-hitter in the National, and Dave Stewart in the American. Neither was a perfect game, though.

I was at the Blue Jays game the next day (Stewart threw his against Toronto) and had heard about Valenzuela's but not Stewart's. I got really confused when people around me started talking about watching "yesterday's no-hitter" until I figured it out :)
