As the universe continues to paste "kick me" signs on my back

[livejournal.com profile] ibsweet let me know that they are looking for mods for the kiddie groups. This would be a good thing for me to do until something more permanent comes up.

They want people with DSL.

Which I could afford after I got a job with these people.

So I can't get the job.

This is Doug about to go postal.

Hrm. I guess my question would be, how much of a lock is it you'd get the job if you got DSL? Because if it *is* a lock, I'd say go ahead and get the DSL (if memory serves, I believe Earthlink even does DSL, but I digress) so you can truthfully say "Look, I have DSL".

Okay, so you need DSL to get the job? Tell you what I'm gonna do. I'll front you the money to start DSL and carry the cost of it for as long as you have the job. You can take the money you would put aside for the DSL when you get the job and put it toward your cable bill. Deal?

Actually, he just needs DSL for pr0n.
Kidding!

I hope things start going your way, Doug. Sincere sympathies.

Deal. Have I mentioned that you are a great person recently? Not just for this, but for everything.

Thank you.

Sounds familiar... Casey (lj:deyo (/userinfo.bml?user=deyo) posted recently about a moving job that required a mobile phone and good transportation.

I had neither, for the same reasons. Somehow when given the choice I'd always chosen "take a BART ride to another interview" over "save up for car insurance."

In this case, though, Casey had both and we seem to make a functional team, not tossing sofas through stairwell windows and the like. It's been working for a month or so now and... I bought a phone today, after covering four months of cable broadband a week ago.

Glad to hear your net connection is taken care of, for now, even if the job directly related to it didn't come through. Check Craigslist frequently, and until something good comes of that... dressing goth chicks up in black fishnet isn't the worst way to spend time.
