America, the choice is yours.

For me, I'm voting Republican because I like the idea of working in a bookstore or something until my death because of Social Security going broke.

End of the world?

Zombies? (BOOM!!) What zombies? (BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)

I'm sitting here enjoying some new (BOOM!!) heavy metal from a band (BOOM!!) called Black Tide. Interesting group out of Miami (BOOM!!)(BOOM!!). You can hear the various (BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!) influences of Megadeth and Guns 'n Roses in their music. Look for them on Heavy Metal Sunday soon.

(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)(BOOM!!)

I feel I deserve a rest after laying that minefield.

(BOOM!!)

What zombies?

Woo! Two deliveries from Amazon today, and they're all about ME!

We got The Seattle Sourcebook from one of the secondary merchants. Book is in great conduition, and still one of the best setting books ever written for RPGs.

I also ordered Scott McClellan's What Happened and Powers' Earthquake Weather.

All of them showed up today. Yayyyyy!!!!!

Planning: way in the hell in advance department.

Kirsten and I are planning on attending the 2009 Worldcon in Montréal. I'm determined not to spend the entire con in the Palais des congrès de Montréal the entire time, so... what are the must-see things in the city? I know we're going to have at least one stout native guide, but I'm interested in what others who live there/have been there think.

After that, we're thinking about going to Washington, D.C. for a few day. I have my political/military/history geek wishlist, but what are the hidden treasures?

The navel-gazing is annoying.

OK, Tim Russert died today. A terrible, terrible loss. He was one of the modern greats of political journalism, and if you were a politics junkie like me, his interviews were pure crack.

But...

The world goes on. We have flooding in the Midwest, wildfires in California, wars, politics, and I'm sure somewhere there is video of a bear in a tree. In other words, news hasn't stopped because a newsman, no matter how prominent or admired, has passed away. I think the most fitting tribute to the man would be to cover the stories of the day with the same tenacity and honest that Tim did. I don't think three hours of remembrances are called for.

Of course, I'm me. I want my news.
