The State of the Doug.
Just back from my annual physical, and I am happy to report that not only am I not dead presently, but I am also likely to remain undead for a long time.
Wait, what did I say?
Anyway, my bloodwork was all good except for the usual deficiencies in Immunoglobulin A and G, and an odd rise in Alkaline Phosphatase which we're going to watch. Odds are it's nothing, but best to be safe. My lungs sounded as terrible as ever, and we discussed how Dr. Filuk (my pulmonologist) and I were handling my lung issues. My heart, as ever, is strong.
I've been having an odd sort of hitch in my right hip. Nothing major, just having it sort of freeze when I go to swing that leg forward. Dr. Morgan tells me I've probably torn the labrum in that joint. It should heal on its own, given time, but if it gets worse them we're going to need an MRI to see what's happening, and possibly a surgical repair.
The other issue I brought up was an odd lump on my right thigh. Cancer survivors are terrified of lumps anywhere! He poked it for a bit and decided the best thing was to biopsy it. So that's set up for a week in February when school is out anyway. This means I may have to skip the first 5K of the year, as I'll be off Xarelto because this will be a surgical biopsy.
We did agree I should contact him if this lump grows, shrinks, or starts singing show tunes.
We did a lot of range-of-motion tests on my joints where he found no signs of arthritis; checked my eyes, ears, and transmission fluid; checked Mr. Happy and his two buddies, all good there; and for the big finale, checked my prostate. Oh, joy. But it has to be done, and again, being a cancer survivor makes me really interested in avoiding another fight like that with my own body.
So all y'all are stuck with me. At least until an idiot soccer mom drives straight through my sign and me because she was too busy trying to contact Muffy's math tutor on her phone.
So check back tomorrow. Just in case.
