They got me.

KFOG's morning show often has local leaders as guests. (Note, this is not a normal morning show crew.. they're intelligent, and play lots of music.)

Today it was SF Supe Tony Hall, widely acknowledged as the most conservative man on the Board. He was announcing a proposal to split off the western half of the city from the rest of SF.

I forgot the date, and bought it hook, line and sinker. Even sent an angry IM to the crew.. which got read on the air.

Shame on me. :)

Tsk, tsk, tsk.

I take it you were caught by their "All 70's" format change a few years ago too? {grin}

We actually try to wake up early on April Fool's Day for the KFOG fake out.

KARA, which I switched to in car after KFOG revealed the joke, was claiming a DMCA ruling said they couldn't use their digital library as it was all illegal copys. They had stored all their LPs and CDs, so to keep playing music they brought in a cover band.

My absolute favorite fake format change has to be the year Live 105 became "K-GAY" - Madonna dance remixes, show tunes, ancient hand-tooled disco, you name it. It was a riot. (And the scary thing is it'd probably work in this market....)

Man, you guys live in a city with cool radio. (Though we do have one decent radio pair, Storm Kennedy and Dennis Nakata, up here.)

Storm used to be local...I think [livejournal.com profile] figmo may have worked with him at one point.

Nah, I caught that one, and even liked it.
