The Great Sale, denouement.

The last items have been sent out and I need to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who took part. The experience was not without a few bumps, but we learned from them.

De-cluttering is hard. We become attached to our things and the wholesale discarding of those things goes against our natures. So I deliberately chose what I knew would be the hardest thing for me, my RPG collection, as a place to start. Holding my treasures in my hand, then handing them to [livejournal.com profile] kshandra and saying "it goes" actually hurt. But once the list was up, and the sales started, I understood just how liberating the process could be.

I'm very happy that my accumulated RPG stuff has gone to good homes I won't deny that the money, the bulk of it coming as I was recovering from gall bladder surgery, was extremely welcome. We made more than we ever dreamed when we started, and it was all put to good use. Y'all bought us more than a couple of nice dinners.

As we dig into the remaining stuff, I'm certain I'll find more treasures. So look for Great Sale II, Attack of the Storage Bins at some point this summer, followed by Great Sale III: Revenge of the Book Shelves.

I'm really looking forward to the second one, but to be honest may give the 3rd a pass. Ewoks, y'know. (Or is that the wrong trilogy?)

Doug, as a 3rd generation pack rat and fellow clutter sufferer I applaud your decision to go for the most difficult first! Years ago when in therapy I couldn't even *visualize* removing a box of "MY STUFF" from my apartment, never mind ACTUALLY doing it! I'm somewhat better now but would likely be a LOT better if I weren't so eBay-inhibited. LOL

You go on wit'cher bad de-cluttering selves! :)
