Food! Food NOW!!

My wife and I both had hellish days at work and anything more complicated than opening beer was simply not going to happen. So I, being a genius, suggested pizza. We called the Round Table nearest to us, and made our usual order. We've ordered from them before, and having both lived off tips in the past tend to lavish the drivers with praise and money.

Quoted a wait time of 90 minutes, not unreasonable for a Friday night. Settled in to wait with visions of pepperonis dancing in our heads.

45 minutes later, the store calls. Suddenly, they can't deliver to us. We're outside their area (hey! The building is crawling away from the mall! cool!) and will be fined if they bring us a pizza or three. Pointing out that they are a scant 1.3 miles from us (yay GoogleMaps!) makes no difference. I guess they employ tree sloths as drivers or something.

Really jonseing for pizza now. We call another Round Table (a bit farther away, but not much) and explained our tale of pizza-deprived woe. The staff there were more than willing to exchange money for garlic-infused bread products, and told us that the Thornwood store has habit of suddenly shrinking its delivery area when they get busy.

Say what?

If they were too busy to deliver tonight, they should have told us when we first made the order!

Rest assured, I shall be climbing bodies until I reach the store's general manager and/or franchise owner.

I've run into a similar problem with the Thornwood Round Table. Now we order from that "Fast Pizza" or whatever it is that keeps leaving us shiny coupons on our door handle. Better prices, and good pizza. :-)

They also shrink delivery areas based on whether a driver has been mugged, etc. in that area.

Round Table Pizza still exists? I was told by friends that the one I worked at (20+ years ago) is called Round Tasty Pizza now, and I had assumed the name change was company-wide. Sorry they boned you.

It's Godfather's Pizza I really miss; those things were damn near as thick as they were wide :>
