Desert Crossing

One of the things we here from the Washington talking heads is that no one could have predicted how things would turn bad in Iraq. I've heard from Rumsfeld, Cheney, and various press flacks and under-secretaries on the Sunday talk circuit.

Well, that's bullshit. Because in 1999 the military's CENTCOM (Central Command) conducted an exercise called Desert Crossing designed to explore the consequences of a US-led invasion to oust the Ba'athist government.

Read all about it.

Chilling in how it accurately predicts many of the problems we face today.

Oh, it's better than that

In a public statement while he was president, GHW Bush explained why he did not pursue Dessert Storm to the point of ousting Hussein. Same, same.

And also why that Stoopid Clinton didn't go into Iraq either.
The latest from the Talking Heads "The Democrats want us to Lose in Iraq."
Unfortunately, they are too late, the Republicans have already lost us Iraq. The Democrats are just acknowledging what has already happened. *sigh*

but this whole administration has been about the power of denial and "if you say it often enough and fervently enough, it becomes true."
(By supernatural agency, of course.)
