Well, the heat finally got to me.

After almost a week of scorching, unrelenting heat, my body finally rebelled today. Ever since my chemo, I've not handled temperature extremes well. I get too cold, or too hot, and it really bugs me.

I haven't slept more than 2-3 hours the last few days. I've been too hot to eat, and have been living on water, Gatorade, and soda (plus the occasional beer...) Today I alreadt felt crappy going in. Luckily, I had an extremely light day (so light that I could easily take an extra job) and was hoping that I'd be able to go home early.

Well, my body took care of that. Going from my air-conditioned truck to the blazing heat of the Livermore area got to be too much, and I got severely ill. I had to pull over twice to vomit, and what was happening at the other end of the line does not bear speaking about.

I got back in, took one delivery to a nearby plant, and headed out for the light rail. Kiri met me at the train station, and took me home.

Where it is currently 100 degrees, 104 with the heat index. I have had enough. My patience is at an end with this. I have never in my life seen it get his bad in San Jose. I want my cool nights back so I can get to sleep before 0200!

Run to Colleen's and Cool Off! NOW! You are in classic Heat Exhaustion Mode. This is not something to play with. Cool down and get some fluids and food into you!
The next step is the emergency room, and you don't want that.

Trust me, I spent enough time at Planet Irwin and Fort Benning to recognize heat inuries. When I got sick the first things I did was to rehydrate heavily and get into the shade.

We stocked up on bottled water and Gatorade at the store last night; hydration is not a concern.

Thanks for mothering us.

...and that wasn't meant sarcastically, either. I really do appreciate it.

I just worry about friends. Especially in this weather. It's the Mom in me. (See entry in which I got Empress - The Mother of All Things for my tarot card. It's too true.)
You two take care!

Do you have a bath? A cold bath will cool you down -- lying in cool baths is recommended for elderly patients who can't cool off any other way. Also, a cold bath will absorb heat from the room, so you might be able to get your bathroom a few degrees cooler by refilling the tub every time it warms up...

ouch, sounds familiar. I once made a phone call at midnight (3am where I was calling) because I thought that the heat waves made things pretty.

My friend was not amused.

Hope you can get it back under control, and I hear ya on wanting it to cool the freak off!
