Water, water everywhere.

For some time now, we've been dealing with two problems in our shower/tub. A slow drain and when the taps are turned off water continued to dribble out. This combined to make every shower a bath waiting to happen, but that problem wasn't that bad.. until this weekend. The dribble turned into a flow, and the drain completely stopped draining.

Ever have to bail out a bathtub?

Luckily the apartment managers got a plumber out here early this morning. The bad news is the taps are shot and old (like everything here) and he won't get the parts he needs until Wednesday. That, and even after using some impressive looking gear, he couldn't dislodge the blockage in the drain. He did remove a pretty amazing amount of hair, though.

So we're without a shower until Wednesday at the earliest. [livejournal.com profile] baka49er lives nearby, and we can use hers, which will be nice. But I am not looking forward to cleaning the tub after the plumber is done.

Typical. I turn 40 and the apartment falls apart!

No, I absolutely forbid it!

You may NOT turn forty. I am having enough trouble dealing with the GK turning 18 tomorrow. I can only deal with one family milestone birthday at a time. Therefore, like the late Jack Benny, you must remain 39 for at least another year.

I had to bail out a tent once

That was strange. it was pitched in tall grass, the canvas decided to stop being water-tight, but the floor didn't.

Must be the difference between owning & renting -- owned places fall apart whenever you suspect you might get spare cash.
