Great, now I have to explain to my family why I just sang "I'm out on the street again, and I'm leapin' along!" Quadrophenia is buried deep in my neural structure; it was the theme music for my first summer away from home ("Now I guess the family's complete, with me hangin' round on the street, or here on the beach" -- kind of meaningful stuff under the circumstances.)

The week before I left for Fort Benning was when we went to Capitola for vacation. On the last night, I wandered along the beach in the fog listening to Quadrophenia on my Walkman. One of the more profound moments of my life.
