The microscoped FREAKED ME OUT the first time I rode it. Loved it once I was a little older, though.

Damn right it was! One of the many ways I knew I loved [livejournal.com profile] laurellady was that during our first trip through the Monsanto Microscope together, we alternated between making out and geeky MST3K-style observations about the science involved.

My favorite goof in the ride occured when you shrank to subatomic size, and entered an oxygen atom. Whirling yellow sparks surrounded you, which the narration described as "billions of orbiting electrons". I mean, I knew oxygen was strongly electronegative, but man, that's one serious ionization state!

The face-centered-cubic lattice structure for water ice was another geek howler.

Ah, youth. :)

Hello!

Hope you don't mind the intrusion, and I already posted about this in [livejournal.com profile] isomeme's thread, but wanted to make sure you saw it (not least 'cause I always love your posts, whilst lurking on his F-page):

Major coolness for those who loved the ride, and a DVD re-creation available. :D
