Bring out your dead!

Back from my interview for the Mortuary Driver gig.

Went very well, in my opinion. Neal (the owner) was quite pleased that I was early, and was ecstatic over my driving experience. The entire thing was short and more a conversation than a grilling.

Here's the site for the parent company.

Pay is $30K annually, and it's a salaried position. Good news, we wouldn't have to move to Orinda. He's specifically looking for drivers in Santa Clara County. The way it works is a five day 24 hour on call shift. Some days, you spend all day in the van. Others, you sit around all day. I have no problem with this. There are benefits. From what i was getting, I'd be taking the van home.

I'll hear Saturday, and could start next Monday!

Vibes, folks.. vibes!

Now I just need to take a long nap. [livejournal.com profile] kshandra and I are seeing Thomas Dolby tonight at 2200 in the City.

Plus, of course, you'd get to meet all sorts of people. Very, very quiet people, but hey!

"How was work today, honey?" "Totally dead. One customer stiffed me!"

I emntioned this fact to my prospective boss, and he said "well, unless there's a zombie attack."

One of the reason I want to work for him.

VIIIIIBES!

And no hassles from the passengers, either. May be the biggest benefit of all.

I've seen some shows on them, including "Insomniac" on Comedy Central.

Would you simply be driving or actually doing clean-ups?

[identity profile] gridlore.livejournal.com 2006-03-10 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
This is just doing body transports. Mainly from site of death to the funeral home of choice.

you can't get the j*b....

Reckon you could claim Six Feet Under (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0248654/) and Dead Like Me (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348913/) DVDs as a work expense?

Not to mention Family Plots (http://www.aetv.com/family_plots/index.jsp)!
