I'm unique!

meme ganked from [livejournal.com profile] princeofcairo, of all people.

FM - Black Noise

FM 23-10 Sniper Training

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:

The Lathe of Heaven

Tricky. I'll probably be surprised, but I've been to CIA Headquarters.

Name a piece of technology or any sort of tool you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist has:

Somewhere around here, I have (or had, haven't seen it in years) a headspace and timing gage for a M2HB Browning .50cal Heavy Machine Gun

Name a CD you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:

Ensemble Vermillion - "Stolen Jewels" -- my sister's group's first CD.

Name a book you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:

"Ask and Tell: Advocacy and Disclosure for People on the Autism Spectrum"

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that you think no-one else on your friendslist does:

"Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity" (Hey, it was a gift...)

Name a place that you have visited that you think no-one else on your friendslist has:

Also tricky. I don't go to that many places. How about the town of Josua Tree, California?

Name a piece of technology or any sort of tool you own that you think no-one else on your friendslist has:

Dunno. Bose Noise-reducing earphones? A 385 piece O-ring kit? What about a circa 1950s Keystone 8mm movie camera (not Super-8) <- takes 16mm film twice through (split in processing).

Oooh, Cameron Hawkins rawks.

The Lathe of Heaven
Oooh, I've been wanting to get the 1980 version. Hoping for a DVD release.

I've got the 2002 Version (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290230/)

D'oh, and now through the Amazon link on imdb I see it is available. Thanks.

Have a copy of "The Lathe of Heaven" I recorded off PBS when it first was shown. Does that count?

When it was FIRST shown?

You had a VCR 30+ years ago?

mid-to-late 1980's if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure it had just come out at that point. I suppose it could have been a re-run, but that's not my recollection.

Just looked it up on the internet movie database. 1980. Earlier than you thought, though I guess one of us was about as many years wrong than the other.

OK; I don't think I had a VCR at that point; it might have been a re-run five or 10 years later.

Sorry. I have FM 23-10. I do not have a headspace and timing gauge, however.

[identity profile] todkaninchen.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oddly, as do I...

...somewhere...

...and a Headspace and Timing gauge...

...I also have a .50 link,IIRC, can be improvised as a go/no-go device.

Then again, I'm odd.

gauges?

[identity profile] redc1c4.livejournal.com 2006-01-27 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
we don't need no steekin gauges....

that is, we wouldn't if the Army would adopt the fixed headspace & timing kit that was developed years ago for Ma Deuce. the adjustable features stem from the manufacturing tolerances possible back when it was God designed her.

i think i have the Sniper FM, but i'm fairly sure you don't have the Anit-Armor TM i grabbed.

redc1c4,
who has at least 2 gauges somewhere in all his souvenirs....
(i also have a bolt block. %-)

Actually, I have Lathe of Heaven, if you mean the low-budget PBS version from 30 years ago or so. I think there was a remake on the SF channel a couple years back
