  1. 5-minute-refresh:
    This was started as a joke. It's for those of us, who lack a real social life, live vicariously by constantly checking to see if there are any now posts on our friends page.
  2. barenaked ladies:
    I can thank "thingunderthest" for my interest in Canadian music. BNL produces some of the best folkie/rock out there, and have amazing lyrics.
  3. books:
    Can't live without them.
  4. football:
    I was raised a 49er faithful, and still love the game.
  5. guns:
    Despite being raised by nice liberal parents who tried to get my interested in other things, I remain a gun nut. I love shooting, and am a pretty damn good shot.
  6. ljmaps_gridlore:
    This one is left over from one of those "map your friends" memes. I should delete it.
  7. penguins:
    Ah, my little feathered friends. I've told the story of how I became penguin boy many times, so suffice it to say that I love penguins and find them endlessly fascinating.
  8. rpgs:
    I've been playing role-playing games since I was about 9, and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. What attracted me was that here was a hobby where the reality of my body (back then I was chubby, weak, and a klutz) didn't stop me from being a hero. I loved getting "out of myself" for a few hours. Then I became a game master, and never looked back.
  9. science fiction:
    I was raised on SF. My mom is an original Trekkie, and some of my first books were written by Heinlein and Clarke. I love SF for the visions of how things might be, warts and all.
  10. stuffed animals:
    Blame Kiri for this one. She brought the zoo into our marriage. I was pretty much immune to their little fluffy charms until I got sick, and had my spleen removed. After surgery like that, you have the urge to hold yourself "in". Kiri provided me with Roadie, a big white bear. Ten years later, and I'm still sleeping with him.
