Wow. Sometimes, you forget just how you can touch people. I got this e-mail today from a fellow Traveller fan, who was sharing some work he had done on a planet. Then he says:

>Since I'm on the subject, I really ought to tell you that you are one of
>the reasons that I started this Landgrab. I'm not sure if you remember,
>but back in 12/31/1999 you sent an e-mail to the old TML where you talked
>about beating cancer. You really don't know what an inspiration that
>was. Who knew that almost a year later I'd be facing surgery, radiation
>and chemotherapy? Any way, I'm up in St. Josephs waiting for surgery to
>take the tumor out, sitting there wondering what I'm gonna do with the
>rest of my short life. Now the hospital was full up, so they only had
>one room available; in the pediatrics ward. With a penguin. Yes, a
>penguin. And it dawns on me. Over the next few days I tell my mother all
>about Traveller, why its funny that I look like a cross between a
>Zhodani and a Geonee, and about that e-mail you sent off at the
>millennium. To this very day, my moms favorite phrase is "Fuck Cancer"

(The Landgrab is a fan-run effort to detail the worlds of the Traveller universe.)

I'm awe struck by this. To think that my fight has inspired another person... like I said, wow.

I'd just like to say that that's a kickass picture.
