Tucker Carlson is an imbecile.

He just actually said "Bill Gates would never have founded Microsoft had he had tenure."

Gates was a college drop-out, not an instructor.

"The Soviet Union never produced anything worth having because, essentially everyone had tenure."

Right. Stalin tried to fire people, but darn that tenure system!

He's arguing with Max Kellerman. Oh, for a hand grenade...

I thought his show got cancelled because of Jon Stewart.

Crossfire (I think that was the show) got canceled, but both hosts got their own shows.

"The Soviet Union never produced anything worth having because, essentially everyone had tenure."

The Germans thought that the T-34 was worth having (the Panther tank was "inspired" by the T-34).

We thought Sputnik was worth having (the Russians got into space before us).

With the Cold War now pretty much dead and gone, some folks seem to forget that we were up against a pretty deadly and smart adversary...

I just finished a book about the early days of the Mikojan & Gurevich design bureau. They got their start due to Mikojan's design work during the Great Patriotic War. Everyone acknowledged that failure to produce would result in getting fired or worse.

"fired, or fired at."

I thought that Stalin fired people by getting his underlings to shoot them. ;)

Well, except for the ones with tenure of course!
