Choking on my Coke

Watching CNN, and a story about a group starting to work on a Condi Rice run for President in 2008.

They have a video, with a catchy tune...

Into a Brave New World

Brave New World. Aldous Huxley, please call your service.

Of course, BNW is actually about the very opposite of what the Bushies want. That world is about as New Deal as you can get; guaranteed jobs, massive government intervention in the affairs of individuals, etc. Score one more point for the gods of irony.

O, brave new world, that has such dimwits in't!

As Bob just said when I read this to him, "Wow. Talk about clue-free!" ;)

Actually, Huxley's title was a bit ironic and stolen from a line in a poem as I recall.

Alas, I can't find a reference via a google search. Though I did come up with a hit that at least had the full line:

Oh, what brave new world is this, that hath such people in it...?

It's Miranda, in Shakespeare's The Tempest:

Mir. O wonder!
How many goodly creatures are there heere?
How beauteous mankinde is? O braue new world
That has such people in't
