Guess what, I'm really 48!

OK, that was interesting...

As part of preparing for my interview with Southwest, I tried to find my High School Diploma. No luck, so I called the school to see about getting a copy, or my transcript at the very least.

I gave my information, and found out they had my records.. and they showed a different SSN and my birthdate being 4/28/56! We confirmed that this was my file, and the records are being corrected, but I have to wonder..

How many opportunities have I missed out on because of that error? I've have to wonder how many of my applications with police agencies stopped cold when my high school info didn't show a Doug Berry born on 7/4/66 in the record.

So tomorrow I pay five bucks for the transcript. Which has now been corrected.

And I wonder...

...why no one thought the idea of a 24-year-old high school freshman was odd before now...

'cause he went through Adult Ed, and a 24-year-old in a GED program is nothing new? (He actually has a diploma, and not a GED, because his recruiter pulled strings and got him into a program that let him take the GED exam for HS credit - but that's not the sort of thing that would be immediately obvious in a sea of paperwork.)
