Football update

OK, I traded Owens. After winning the Superbowl in my first season, he held out for a huge contract boost that left me in salary cap hell. So I went shopping. The Detroit Lions had finished last in the league, so I made a deal with them. For TO I got:

1. A 24 year old WR rated at 85.

2. First pick in the draft.

3. First pick in the second round of the draft.

4. More than six million off my salary figure.

This allowed me to radically improve my defense. My only real weak spot is at strong safety, but I'm looking at some trade possibilities. I'd also like to upgrade my pass rush, but that is a secondary concern.

Glad to see that he's been well programmed. It certainly sounds like a true-to-life performance.

Pick the right safety, and you can upgrade your pass rush as a bonus*. ;-)

*Why, yes. I do recall watching Larry Wilson (http://www.azcardinals.com/history/custom.html?cid=HallofFamers) invent the safety blitz (not to be confused with anything discussed in Entry #202 (http://www.skippyslist.com/skippylist.html) of Skippy's List). Why do you ask?

I'm looking around. I'm just leery of picking up guys in their 30s for big contracts, then watching them retire a season or two later.
