So I haven't been posting recently. Why? Because I've either been at work or asleep.

My first six-day week came as a result of BayCon. To get Sunday night off, I traded the following Saturday day shift. Then Terry (the dispatcher I traded with) had a stroke.

So, stupid me, I volunteer to take the *next* Saturday as well. Now my usual shift is 930pm to 600am. The Saturday shift is 500am to 130pm.

So not only am I working six days, I'm screwing up my normal sleep rhythms. Which, for people with seizure disorders, is fucking STUPID!!

Threats to my health aside, I was too tired to go to a party I had been looking forward to for sometime last Saturday, and spent the majority of my weekend asleep. This is not good.

So I left word that I can't do two of these shifts in back to back weeks. I may still pick up some overtime here and there, but it won't kill me.

No, I think you had it right at dinner Saturday night: We do it because It's What We Do. There used to be people there I enjoyed seeing...I still show up occasionally in the hopes of seeing them again, but many of them have moved away, and many of them have simply moved on.

Maybe it's time for me to, as well.
