OK, time to get organized.

[livejournal.com profile] fimbrethil's recent decision to get her living arraignments organized has inspired me. It's time for us to do the same thing, and I, as always, have a plan.

1. Clean house, in more ways than one. We've accumulated piles of junk, and a lot of it can go away. We need to get things on shelves, stored, given away or sold. Getting the apartment organized and clean will do a great deal for our energy levels and attitudes, I think.

2. Start getting some new furniture. Just about everything we own is hand-me-down or found. It's a jumble, a mess, and at 38 I'm tired of decorating in Early Dorm Room. I have a discount at work, we can make judicious use of it. Along with this, actually decorate in something resembling a style. I don't care if that style is SF Geek, I want people to be able to say "this was planned."

3. Increase our socialization. I'd like to have people over to our place every now and then.

So, we've got some work ahead of us.

This was actually one of the things on my goal list...which I still need to post in my journal. Maybe when I get home tonight....

It's a bit twee, but www.flylady.net is a pretty good place to start. She starts you out small, and it's pretty adaptable to how you want to work it.

I understand that feeling, and I'm cheering you on from Texas!

Have you considered Antarctic Ice Floe as a decor scheme?
(Blue carpet, white furniture on white foam cutouts...)

Ya know, I'd actually do that, if we were in a place of our own and could change the carpet....

Not just my living arraingments baby.

Best of wishes. I am engaged in a dejunking endeavor myself, with a lot less space to work with.

I am big on vertical storage units (Gorilla Racks or the plastic stack-racks). I also favor boxes that nest or stack on top of each other. I've had good luck with Costco blue folding crates and somewhat less with cardboard file boxes.

I saw your post in "spaceexploration".

I'm stealing your "god" icon.

Bwahahahaha.

I hope you don't mind, or if you do, you're too tired to do anything about it.

thanks.
