OK, thinking about gaming..

Since I have no life currently, and now have all these shiny new gaming books, I'm going to run a game.

It will take me a couple of months to get it all together, but I thought I'd start collecting ideas.

Here are the options running around my mind..

1. GURPS Space, using the 2300AD setting. I'm thinking of an independent team of reporters, stringers for some big Terran news org, covering the Kafer War.

2. GURPS, one of the variants of my 4400 idea.

3. GURPS Traveller. Rather than my usual stuff, do the crew of a small Imperial Navy ship along the Solomani Rim.

4. GURPS Return to the New World! Swashbuckling with elves, lost cities guarded by dinosaurs, and spirit magic up the wazoo. Tim Powers meets Cap'n Jack Sparrow.

5. D&D3e Ware the East! Fun in Eastern Europe, with a horde of hobgoblins riding out of the east. The Mongol invasions with magic.

The 2300 idea sounds fun. I've always liked that setting, and a reporter team could get into all kinds of interesting situations.

I'd be interested, but the commute would be a bummer.

Doug, I would give my left freakin' testicle to be close enough to play GURPS with the author of the freakin' GURPS Traveller ground-pounder volume.

And all 5 ideas sound extremely nifty.

i am sure that any of those choices will be sufficient to satisfy my vicarious gaming requirement.

btw, my daughter's boyfirend was telling me yesterday about the d&d game he is playing... i approve.
