Looking over his season stats (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5390), he appears to have had an adequate season so far (4-5 record, 15 holds, ERA 3.14), although his ERA was 3.43 at the time of the trade. Of course, I would imagine that the timing of those runs might have been an issue....
Who has taken over Rodriguez' role as a setup man? Recent pitching callups from the minors (Lowry and Hennessey) have both been used in the starter role.
They moved Herges from closer (which he really isn't suited for) into the set up role. Dustin Hermanson (http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/player.jsp?player_id=115812) (4-4, 1 Save, 4.43 ERA, 78K) moved from the starting rotation to closer.
I think we banked everything on Nen coming back, and blew the bet. Our first priority for next season is going to be pitching.
