I have a bike again.

I am a happy Penguin.

We picked up a 26" Huffy "Avenue" Comfort bike. Six speeds, aluminum frame, very nice indeed. We also grabbed some accessories: riding gloves, headlight and tail flasher, and a 12-function "riding computer" that I'm going to have to take back. (There are parts missing.)

I'm going to have to check the correct pressure for my tires and top them off before I start riding again, and wait for a sunny day, but I'm thrilled to have wheels again.

The best part? My budget was $190.00. The final cost was $189.38. Thanks to my friends who helped me replace this important part of my life.

VTA does have bike racks, but most of the places I go are served by lines that either go directly to the spot, or in close walking distance.

Line 64, which stops right across the street, takes me to CalTrain. Also I can easily walk to Light Rail to go to down town SF.
