The New York Tankees have acquired A-Rod from the Rangers, another example of Steinbrenner's negative effect on baseball.

But that's not the shocker.

A-Rod will be wearing Babe Ruth's old number. Why wasn't that number retired decades ago? I mean, we are talking about Herman "Babe" Ruth! Number #2 on the all-time homerun list, one of the greatest players of all time. And his number has been retired?

What are the Yankees thinking?

Very true, but they'll need better pitching. They had the offensive firepower last year; it simply choked in the clutch. Which is and was fine with me; I hate the Yankees. :-)
