OK, we caught him!

Saddam Hussein is in our net. He's history, and the Iraqi people will have their chance to put him on trial. I'm really happy about this. The Ba'ath Party is dead now. Good Riddance. But..

Where are the Weapons of Mass Destruction? Where's the weapon's program? Where is any proof of what we were told was a imminent threat to the US.. a threat so dire we needed to attack now! So far, and after six months, nothing. Less than nothing, as we are no hearing that Saddam's own scientists lied to save their skins about weapons development.

But wait! I hear the conservatives cry, We removed a monster from power, Saddam tortured and massacred his own people! Doesn't that count for something?

Yes, it does. We've made the world a slightly better place. But what now? Shall we invade North Korea? Kim Jon Il is far worse that Saddam ever was. And he does have nukes, and a delivery system. Why are we talking to Kim, and parading a captive Saddam? (Could it be the oil? Just maybe?) Why are we not hitting Indonesia? Vietnam? Burma? Half of Africa? Hell, if assaulting a nation to rid it of an evil despot is justification enough, then I have a list of targets for us to go after.

It isn't though. And some of those nations are our allies. Take the Republic of Korea. South Korea jails dissidents, obtains confessions through beatings, and has a "rubber bullet to the throat" approach to riot control. Oh, and when the Army doesn't like things, it takes over. Israel and Egypt, our two largest per capita recipients of aid, both use questionable police tactics, oppress ethnic and religious minorities, and in the eyes of some Americans, deserve to get their butts kicked a little.

Hell, Chile under Pinochet was worse that Iraq. And we were the ones who put him in power! We used to send aid and support to Iraq, and sold him the Little Despot Home Biological Warfare Kit during his war with Iran. Blame Reagan for that. During the 80s he secretly traded arms for hostages with Iran, and sold Iraq biochem weapons. We were arming both sides of the war!

So, while I am happy about Saddam being caught, and am interested in seeing what this does to the resistance (martyr syndrome or back breaker, we'll see.) I have one question..

Where's Osama bin-Laden? You know, the guy who actually orchestrated the September 11th attacks? He's still loose.

Severe congratulations to the members of the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) and the Special Operations Command troops who napped him. Good job, guys. May you all come home soon.

Pretty much everything I was thinking but more eloquently put!
