The Doctor is back!

There BBC has announced a new animated Dr, Who

This could be very good, or very bad, depending on how the animation is handled. I just ask one thing, Anthony Ainley has to come back to play the Master!

Gak. Has it really been 40 years!?.

Their Flash version of "Shada" was very cool. Point in favor.

Oh, my. Um, have you seen "Dr. Who and the Curse of Fatal Death" yet?

No, he hasn't. I managed to stop hyperventilating long enough to explain....

We have the tape. A showing could be arranged, if you so desire.

Muaahaha... imagine if you will what would happen if you had the Doctor as played by Rowan Atkinson, the notable behind such gems as Mr. Bean and Black Adder? Well, that's precisely what Curse of Fatal Death is, a Comic Relief-sponsored homage to (or perhaps parody of) Dr. Who that lampoons just about EVERY Whoism and show trait that's ever bloody happened. Utterly brilliant; Atkinson pulls off a remarkably cool interpretation of the Doctor. I honestly wish they'd do another series of the show just to spotlight him; the razor wit he's famous for combined with the quiet competence (arrogance?) of the Doctor goes SO well together. The Master is... well, utterly ridiculous, but then that's about on, I'd say. It really has to be seen to be believed. There is a tape released of it; if you're strapped for cash, you could always go searching for it on KaZaA or similar file-sharing networks, though I advise patience if you try that route as it's devilish hard to find. Worth the time, though, no question.

Pryce was an excellent Master in that. I'd love to see him play it "straight."

Before I saw him in Dr. Who and the Curse of Fatal Death, I had seen him play the villain in Tomorrow Never Dies. He's also the Governor in Pirates of the Caribean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Yes, but I thought he was particularly good as the Master. Easily up there with Delgado and Ainley.

I'll probably see Pirates this weekend, along with League, and will then have another data point.
