Medical science is a lot like detective work.
You spend a lot of time eliminating suspects through reading clues.
I saw my oncologist today, and boy was he amazed at the avalanche of messages and test results concerning this latest medical mystery he had gotten in the last few weeks. I like Dr. Agrawal, he shares my sense of humor about these things. He had dived into the mass of data reaching him and has eliminated a few possible causes for my uveitis.
The very good news is I do not have pancreatic cancer. This concern was raised when my chest CT showed a nodule near where my pancreas hangs out. That's why I went for the abdominal CT yesterday, to better image that nodule. It appears to be yet another attempt by my body to repair my long-missing spleen. This is relatively normal, if unsettling. A nodule measuring about 9mm was also noted in my left lung, but the bottom of my lungs are crap, so it's nothing to panic about. Yet. We'll probably be doing a new CT in a few months to see if anything has changed.
There's no sign of a reoccurrence of lymphoma, Hepatitis B or C, tuberculosis, or any of the other things they tested for. The massive blood work I did Friday has no signs of the metabolic activity normally associated with malignant tumors. There were a few odd results, even for me, so things are still being watched.
Thankfully, we've hit a lull. My next few appointments are spread out over the next few weeks. Frankly, I need the break. For right now I'm continuing the prednisolone drops and just waiting for things to improve. On a high note, I got to tell Dr, Agrawal the story of my getting kissed by three French nurses at Burning Man. . .
