Heavy Metal Sunday actually manages to make a Thanksgiving connection for today's Mash-Up!

My original video choice turn out to be really unsynchronized near the end, so a fill in was called for. So enjoy today's Mash up, The Foo Fighters - Times Like These v. Guns'n'Roses - Sweet Child O'Mine. What's the Thanksgiving connection? The Foos appeared on Top Chef in a Thanksgiving challenge.

Bring it on!

Texas Chili 3

More photos from the World Series bet with [livejournal.com profile] rickvs here. The chili is simmering as we speak. The apartment smells amazing.

We finally got around to uploading the results of the NLCS bet with [livejournal.com profile] netquiddler.

It's amusing. The big story of the Giants' off-season is the need for Pablo "Kung-Fu Panda" Sandoval to lose weight and rededicate himself to conditioning and eating wisely, and we're sitting here enjoying comfort food from around the country.

Edit: The chili has been consumed, and was awesome. The chili powder wasn't needed. I could have added a little for the burn, but the flavor was so good without additional heat. We were a little concerned that the jar+1lb of meat might be a little more than we could handle. Turns out to have been the perfect amount. We each had about two bowls worth.

The hard part is getting my plan through Congress

Another fix the deficit tool. I made my fixes through a mixture of tax increases and spending cuts. Mostly, I allow Bush tax cuts on the top brackets to expire, add a national sales tax and add a "millionaires tax" above the highest current bracket. I gut the defense budget.

Playing with this thing shows one clear fact: you simply cannot solve the deficit with spending cuts alone.
