Heavy Metal Sunday/Dimanche de métaux lourds is getting away!

There won't be a HMS post next week. I'll be neck deep in Worldcon and probably recovering from the Saturday night party floor hotel.

To celebrate our first real vacation in 18 years, we present Quebec's own Voivod Their musical style has changed several times since the band's origin in the early 1980s. Starting out as a speed metal band, Voivod have added a mix of progressive metal and thrash metal to try to create their own unique metal style. Jason Newsted (ex-Metallica bassist) did some studio work on their latest. So, while we finish up packing, enjoy The Getaway off 2006's Katorz.

Wait, Paul Krugman is going to be at Worldcon? Paul "The Theory of Interstellar Trade" Krugman is going to be at Worldcon?

As a hardcore policy geek, and a big fan of macroeconomic theory (What, you didn't know this?) I'm going to have to track him down and get him to sign the copy of The Theory of Interstellar Trade I'm printing as we speak. I've used this paper in developing settings before. He's like an economic deity to me.
