Damn.

I just called Lord and Sons and resigned. The pain in my back was just getting too bad, and wasn't getting any better. Last night I was awake for several hours with spasms so bad I was nearly screaming.

This sucks. Really, really sucks. I could handle the paperwork, rocked on the driving, and all that, but lifting those damn gates on and off the truck was killing me. When you can't make it through the day without gobbling pain medications, and you can't bend over to pick up your shoes, there is a problem. I was seriously worried about causing myself permanent damage. I don't want to end up needing major medical intervention in a few years because I was too stupid to realize what I was doing to myself now.

fuck.

So, back to the job hunt. And I need to cal EDD to explain what happened, and see how I handle my claim.

OK, a question..

Do I put Lord and Sons on my resume? I was there less than two weeks.

UPDATE!

My boss' boss just called. Evidently, I can drive without the gates on the truck.

So tomorrow I go in and try to work with straps holding the product down.

Today, I'm spending with a heating pad.

I have a name for my pain...

Boss called again. They wanted me to go see the occupational health folks and have my back looked at. So I did.

Long story short, strained lumbar with a minor muscle tear. I've been given prescription-strength Tylenol, medicated cream, and a brand-new lumbar support belt.

Tomorrow morning, I'll start driving the truck without gates.

In case some of you are confused, here's a truck similar to mine. Those metal railings along the sides are called "gates" and have to be lifted straight up to get them out. The deck of the truck I'm driving is about chest-high, so I was having to lift a rather heavy and awkward metal object over my head many times a shift. Now I'll be strapping down the loads like this.

Of course, if I ever get loaded that heavily, I'm asking for a raise.

I'm going to medicate, noodle around for a bit, them probably go back to bed. I didn't get any sleep last night, y'know.
