The Goverenator takes aims at schools.

All through his campaign, Arnold Schwarzeneggar swore he would protect California's schools and their legally-mandated funding. Now that he actually has to deliver on what he promised regarding the deficit, he's sharpening a pretty big ax.. and guess what program is on the chopping block?

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said for the first time Tuesday that he would consider suspending the state's guaranteed level of public school funding, seemingly reversing a campaign promise to protect schools from severe budget cuts without raising taxes.

Amazing. Most politicians wait at least three months before breaking campaign promises of this size. Ah-nold is doing it in less than two.

I shall not be at work today.

Yesterday, I started feeling ill at work, and having to walk home during a driving rainstorm didn't help. (The booming thunder really helped ease my mood.. sure, get hit by lightning, that will help!) When I got upstairs, I felt like I had gone a few rounds with an Abrams, and had a hacking cough. I stayed up really late so that my coughing wouldn't wake Kiri.

Woke up after about six hours, and the sore throat is worse. So I croaked in sick, and I'm going to take it easy and see if I can kick this thing before Friday.
