A question or two regarding Madden NFL 11
I'm hoping someone on my friends list can help me with these, because the official forums are dominated by jerks who play on All-Madden with a half-working controller and still can make Peyton Manning cry.
1. Is there anywhere on the web where I can see the various playbooks? I'm trying to find the best fit for my offense.
2. Is this a bug? There's a feature where you can practice specific plays designed to work well against your next opponent. You get three plays, and five chance to accumulate "gameplan points" which improve execution of those specific plays, especially if the opposing team runs the same formation as was used in practise. Often times, I get a focus play that simply does not exist in my playbook. I don't know if I'm supposed to add the play somehow, or if my offensive coordinator is on drugs.
This next one is absolutely a bug. It happened to me again today. Opponent is facing 3 and a mile*. Throws a deep pass, which Charles Woodson intercepts and begins running back. He's hit at about the original line of scrimmage by a Mack truck disguised as an offensive lineman, and fumbles. Opponent recover the fumble two yards behind the original line of scrimmage.
So, it's 4th and a mile +2 yards, right? Nope, Opponent's ball, first and 10. The bug is the turnover triggers a new set of downs in the AI. It can't process the flow if the multiple changes of possession in one play.
*Down and hyperbolic distance is an old football broadcaster thing for when a team is facing more than 15 yards to make a first down. I think my favorite was when a 49ers broadcaster commented when the visiting faced 3 and 35, that the first down line was "somewhere in the Raider's game."
