Have you seen the Anime "remake"?

It's remarkable how different two movies can be if one is based on a book and the other is based on a manga that was was based on the book.

Not sure if I couldn't come up with alternate possibilities (the oeuvre of Kurosawa springs to mind, just to name one example), but I was completely blown away by the new restored Metropolis after it hit DVD.
